1st-level transmutation
You detach your hand at the wrist, losing the use of that limb for the duration of this spell. The hand can re-attach to your arm at any time if it is within 5 feet of you (no action required). While your hand is detached, it uses the statistics of a Crawling Claw (Monster Manual p.44)
In combat, the hand shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It obeys your verbal commands (no action required by you). If you don’t issue any, it takes the Dodge action and uses its move to avoid danger.
While the hand is on the same plane of existence as you, it can magically convey what it senses, and you can communicate with it telepathically.
If the hand is killed or cannot return to you by the end of the duration, you take 1d6 points of necrotic damage that cannot be reduced in any way as your hand is instantly and painfully reformed.
