- Casting Time:
- Action
- Range:
- 30 feet
- Components:
- V, S, M (a vial of acid worth at least 100gp, which the spell consumes)
- Duration:
- 1 minute
A glob of acid begins to dissolve a target that you can see within range. The target can be a creature, an object, or a surface.
- Creature
- The target must make a Constitution saving throw, taking 8d8 acid damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. On a failed save, it also begins to dissolve for the spell’s duration or until a creature uses its action to scrape or wash the acid off the affected creature. A creature covered in the acid takes 4d6 acid damage at the start of each of its turns.
If damage from this spell leaves it with 0 hit points, the target and everything it is wearing and carrying (except magic items) is dissolved into a thick liquid. The creature can be restored to life only by means of a true resurrection or a wish spell.
- Object
- If you target a nonmagical object of large size or smaller that isn’t being worn or carried, it is instantly dissolved, and the spell ends.
- Surface
- If you target a nonmagical surface such as a stone wall, this spell instantly dissolves a 5-foot cube of it, and the spell ends.
At higher levels
When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the initial damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 5th.
