Ice Spike

1st-level conjuration

Casting Time:
Action
Range:
30 feet
Components:
V, S, M (a shard of glass)
Duration:
Instantaneous

You conjure a jagged spike of ice which erupts from a point you can see within range and fills a 10-foot cube. The spike has 10 hit points and 12 AC, immunity to cold damage and vulnerability to bludgeoning and fire damage. If there isn’t enough room for the ice spike, it attains the maximum possible size in the space available.

Each creature in the area when the spike appears must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 3d8 slashing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. After a target is damaged by this spell, it is pushed out of the spike’s space in a random direction. If there no unoccupied space for a target to be pushed to, the spike shatters into dust and the target is not moved.

The spike persists until it is destroyed or melts naturally.

At higher levels

When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 2nd.
