Chronometer

A curious device

Attunement

Spellcasting focus. Requires attunement by a spellcaster.

A fascinating mechanism adorned with runes, this complicated device has many moving parts and makes a soft clicking sound.

Attunement. The chronometer must be studied for 8 hours of uninterrupted investigation as you try to follow and decipher its movements. At the end of the duration you must make a DC 20 Intelligence saving throw.

On a failed save your intellect is overwhelmed by the device’s complexity causing you to take 4d6 psychic damage and age 1d4 years. If you fail to attune you cannot attempt to do so again until you have finished a long rest. On a successful save you are attuned to the chronometer. While attuned to the chronometer you gain the following features.

Weavesense
You sense the direction and distance to the Chronometer at all times. This effect ends if another creature attunes to it.
Chrono Magic
You gain knowledge of Chrono spells which you can cast with your available spell slots. The chronometer must be held in the hand to cast these spells.
Time Dilation
You no longer age and don’t need to sleep. You can finish a long rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in quiet meditation analyzing the workings of the chronometer, during which time you are totally oblivious to your surroundings.
Chrono Surge
As a bonus action you can activate the chronometer, allowing you to take one additional action this turn. The chronometer can’t be used this way again until the next dawn.
