Subtle Bell

A thick metal bowl

Attunement

Spellcasting focus, Musical instrument. Requires attunement by a spellcaster.

A finely decorated bowl-shaped bell made from thick tarnished metal which can be played either by striking or by rubbing the outside rim to produce a sustained note. It can be filled with water to change the note played.

Attunement
The bell must be held and played for 8 uninterrupted hours while you appraise its beautiful simplicity and elegance, allowing it to become the focus of your attention. At the end of the duration you must make a DC 20 Charisma saving throw.

On a failed save the bell emits a thunderous gong audible up to 1 mile away, causing you to take 4d6 thunder damage and leaving you deafened for 1 day. If you fail to attune you cannot attempt to do so again until you have finished a long rest. On a successful save you attune to the bell. While attuned to the bell you gain the following features.

Weavesense
You sense the direction and distance to the bell at all times. This effect ends if another creature attunes to it.
Subtle Magic
You gain knowledge of Subtle spells which you can cast with your available spell slots. The bell must be held in the hand to cast these spells.
Psychic Defenses
You are resistant to psychic damage and immune to the charmed condition while you have the bell in your possession.
Warning Bell
As an action while holding the bell you can cause it to produce a silent mental bell sound that alerts up to 8 creatures of your choice that are on the same plane of existence as you, awakening any recipients that are sleeping. As part of the sound you can include up to 10 words that are heard by the recipients. The Bell can’t be used this way again until the next dawn.
